At the current time of writing (Oct '22) is looks like made.com will not be around for much longer.
I can't help but see parallels with Dwell Furniture.
A furniture retailer offering what I would call ultra modern furniture enters the market has a lot of brand awareness for a few years, grows rapidly and then falters.
At it's peak Dwell had six stores across London and in 2010 had plans to open 60!
I have an hypothesis why these companies fail, I think it's to do with the fantastic looking furniture but is actually fairly poor quality. Consumers are attracted to how it looks but once they have experienced the quality don't come back!
